Sumru, an ethnomusicologist by trade, travels to Diyarbakir to make sound recordings of elegies and their stories. While listening to the testimonies of Kurdish women who lost their husbands or sons during the bloody oppression, she is confronted with her own past. Sumrus beloved left for the Kurdish front years ago, never to return. During her journey she meets Ahmet. Together with him she goes in search of what happened to her beloved.

In the opening, a wild horse galloping in slow motion is shot dead by invisible gunmen. For those who (like me) prefer to start a film with as little prior knowledge as possible, this raises expectations that are not fulfilled at all. The journey of music student [Gay Gürsel] to Istanbul University to start research into lamentations arising from genocide in Turkey is a framework for testimonials from relatives who tell their story in front of a wall full of photos of victims. A failed combination of drama and documentary.
