Snails: That's what the deaf-blind call themselves in South Korea, because they only have tactile contact with the world. Chan was not born deaf and blind, but became it after an infection. Since then he has lived in absolute darkness and silence. Only by reading books with his fingers could he learn about the world, and writing essays and poems was his only way of 'talking' to the outside world. But his books stayed with him at home and never reached an audience. Until he met a woman who changed everything.
