Two teenage boys grew up as brothers in an isolated Alaskan town. One morning, when they are on a seal hunt with another boy, an argument ensues that escalates into a tragic accident. The two friends are forced to tell one lie after another in order to survive. The horrified boys feel a deep sense of guilt and try to avert suspicion from the community.
