Second Rathbone-Holmes I've seen, but I just don't like it very much. The drollness is too great for me, it never gets exciting or intriguing and some performances are not your thing either. Rathbone and Bruce are quite attuned to each other and the fight with the Scottish police was certainly not bad, but in general there is too little to enjoy. Think I'll leave it at two for this series.

An old Sherlock Holmes film adaptation, which actually takes place entirely on a train, where a diamond is stolen and a man is killed. Well, I say film adaptation, but I think it is not a film adaptation of an existing story, but more a new story with the familiar characters. It's only a good hour long, and that's enough. It honestly doesn't always feel very much like Sherlock Holmes - the closed off setting with X number of possible suspects and the question 'whodunit?' more reminiscent of Agatha Christie, and I was regularly annoyed by Doctor Watson, who, unlike the books, is a pompous, self-overestimating jerk. Just about the last type of person Holmes would want as a roommate/friend/assistant. Although the backstory with master criminals like Moriarty and Sebastian Moran is typical Holmes. A nice look away, but not special and Watson certainly whines off half a point.

One of the many Sherlock movies starring the legendary Basil Rathbone. A murder on board a train and the theft of the Star of Rhodesia are the new challenge for Holmes & Watson, who must solve it all before the train reaches its destination. Holmes also thinks Colonel Moran, Moriarty's right-hand man, has something to do with this.
