Entertaining horror animation that can certainly be quite scary for the younger children.
Paranorman has a bit of the same atmosphere as Coraline had, although I think Coraline is clearly the better of the 2.
Nicely done that in addition to the horror story we also have a kind of coming of age part around Norman, so not a childish film!
I thought the gay joke at the end was brilliant and daring! On IDMB I read that this joke has caused a lot of angry parents, as if children are going to see this joke?

Paranorman is without a doubt worth watching, fans of Coraline and Monster House should definitely not miss this film!
Give Frankenweenie a chance soon.

3.5*

Still the least of the Laika stable. Coraline's creativity is completely gone. And the theme of creepy animations was already done better. Just think of Monster House, Corpse Bride, Frankenweenie, Hotel Transylvania and of course Nightmare before Christmas. The humor is rather bland, the story doesn't get started and I miss the charm of stop-motion. Fortunately, a recent film like Shaun the Sheep proves that the genre is not dead yet. This animation will soon be forgotten.

Reasonable.

Compared to Coraline does lose this film, but I didn't necessarily think it was much worse. It's all nicely put down a bit scarier but unfortunately also a bit more predictable and much more standard. The characters are all pretty much the same.

With this you get few really nice types, but the stop motion is nicely done. Here and there it is all quite comical and sometimes also very creepy. I think children will swallow this a bit easier than adults.

The film feels a bit longer, but still entertaining. Quite successful in its story and there are a few nice scenes and combined with a well-developed plot. Too bad about the standard characters and the somewhat predictable way of the story.
