Jan Cox, a Painter's Odyssey plot
Biographical film about the life and work of the Belgian painter Jan Cox. He experienced a stormy youth, in which he co-founded the painting group Jeune Peinture Belge and worked on the borderline of the Cobra art movement. In 1956 he left for America, where he stayed for the next eighteen years. He gained recognition as a painter and teacher, but returned disillusioned after a failed marriage, financial problems and the onset of alcoholism. With archive material, paintings, photos, memories and writings, the story is built up as an odyssey of 24 parts, each with its own style.
