Day Is Done plot
A chimney towers over all the houses. Downstairs, the trains rumble across the tracks. During the evening, the lights are turned on in all buildings. There is a man behind the camera, looking for an appropriate image... Of himself? Of the world? From society? During the day as well as at night, in rain, wind and snow, he films from behind the window of his studio. Sometimes we hear people leave messages on his answering machine. They talk about the weather on vacation or they congratulate him on his birthday. His father dies, a child is born, the young family grows apart. And time goes on. Slowly the view of the city changes into the inner landscape of the man behind the camera.
