A boy from the countryside is taken to Shanghai by his uncle. The intention is that the boy, like his uncle, will work for the gang of crime boss Tang. Tang makes the boy the sidekick of Tang's mistress, a beautiful nightclub singer. When the uncle and other members of the gang are killed in an attack on Tang, Tang takes the boy and the singer to an island to contemplate revenge.
