We are talking in 1987 somewhere in the Czech Republic, that is still at the time of the Cold War and the Berlin Wall will hold city for another two years. The Czech Republic is clearly on the "wrong" side of the border and it is almost impossible to enter the free West. Mother and son experience this only too much.

The film title is symbolic and enlightening. It is the maximum communication between father and family, through letters of correspondence. 44 were already written, judging by the film title, they are still a long way off and patience is being tested even longer. Other parcels can also be exchanged via a courier...

The film is quite stylistic with long images. It is barely spoken. It makes the film feel rather long-winded. Yet he has a certain impact and shows the powerlessness and bureaucratization. Not great, but certainly not bad either.
