The Baytown Outlaws plot

"A Southern Whip-Ass Extravaganza!"

After her ex-husband Carlos (Billy Bob Thornton) shoots Celeste (Eva Longoria) three times in the stomach, it's time to get revenge. In the battle for her godson Rob (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), she hires three outlawed redneck brothers to bring him back to her. But nothing is ever so simple in the American South. What starts as a simple rescue turns into a grand battle. This strange team must fight their way past pretty female mercenaries, Native American hunters and federal agents, all while protecting Celeste's innocent child.

Pretty lame 13 in a dozen action movie. The film isn't really that bad (it rarely does) and it still looks pretty good (fortunately doesn't last long) but it actually fails in all areas for which it was made. There is hardly anything to laugh about (only Billy Bob Thornton was still a bit fun), the execution is poor, the boring action is actually not much and the same goes for the cast (Eva Longoria was nothing more than image filling and the role of Thomas Brodie-Sangster as a handicapped kid didn't make any sense at all, and the fact that those guys got sympathy for him didn't make sense either, because that kid did nothing but look stupid). The three redneck brothers were supposed to be nice and tough, but I thought they were just a bunch of retarded inbred rednecks that I couldn't muster any sympathy for. In any case, there were all colorless figures in this film that do not convince anywhere.

Also the very bland cliché story has little to do and we won't talk about fascinating or exciting because that was not present at all. That Zoe Bell participated in this film is a mystery to me because she is mainly a stunt woman and there were no female stunts in this film

PS I think the director is excited about the colors yellow and green because they were very dominant (and also too exaggerated) too present.

Provided that I abhor violence. That's why I deliberately ignore a lot of action movies. This might be the most violent movie I've ever seen. Despite that I had a good time. The point is that the film does not take itself seriously for a moment. Everything is excessively over the top. The extravagant characters and the insane confrontations with the opponents constantly underline this.

I was never bored with this amusing action comedy. Never expected that I would say that about a film, in which quite a bit flows and the bullets fly around your ears almost continuously.

Tasty no-brainer. The story is only secondary and serves as a stepping stone for a lot of action and violence with appropriate caricatures. The film has a fast pace and looks good. The action scenes look good. In addition to the action, there is also room for some black humor. Visually, the film looks fine. By applying a dark lens, everything looks even rawer and fits exactly with the southern raw atmosphere. The acting is also fine, although Thornton has played better roles. Nice entertainment for genre lovers. 3.0/3.5
