Hou Me Vast - De Dijk plot

De Dijk has been touring the Netherlands for almost 30 years. From Nijeveen to Bergen op Zoom, from Weert to Broek op Langedijk. With an almost unchanged composition, this band has managed to attract an increasingly wider audience. They grew up together and made each other better by working together hard and in a unique way. While to the outside world Huub van der Lubbe is the face of the band, on the inside the band is above all a collective: everything is decided together. The documentary shows the year in which they released their first international album Hold on Tight and would celebrate it with a performance with Solomon Burke in Paradiso. Things turn out differently - the morning of his arrival in Amsterdam, Solomon Burke dies at Schiphol. De Dijk is devastated: they lose a friend, but a possible international dream is also shattered.

In 2011, De Dijk celebrates its 30th anniversary and at the insistence of manager Jantien Keunen, the band members try to come up with a way to add luster to this anniversary. The answer comes from an unexpected quarter: Solomon Burke, an icon of soul music and an idol of the band members, has heard their music and would like to collaborate with them. This documentary records how the collaboration between De Dijk and Solomon Burke comes about, but also how songs for the latest album come about. And the cohesion in the band is put to the test when frontman and lyricist Huub van der Lubbe, for the first time since the band was founded, asks out loud how long the band should be able to continue. Raes gets more drama than she expected and that only benefits this portrait of one of the Netherlands' most popular and successful bands. The title refers to a song of which Solomon Burke will record a translated version.
