"You might even say it glows!"

Apparently this classic is broadcast on television in the US every year around Christmas. I watched this children's film, it is indeed very old-fashioned, but still nicely done with the stop-motion technique. The songs are great and that narrative snowman (voice of Burl Ives) is fun too. It's a bit strange that the little guy Hermey has been given a rather masculine voice. I can imagine that that Abominable Snowman must have scared little children! Only for the little ones (although nowadays they prefer to watch YouTube videos or play computer games) or for the elderly with nostalgic feelings.

Cute.

Yes, it is very old, the animation is very limited and the designs look simple too. This was definitely not an expensive production, but this film still managed to become a true Christmas classic. Especially in the US, I must honestly admit that I had never heard of this film before last week.

But it must be said, despite the somewhat meager presentation, it is still very cute and touching. It may not be very beautiful, but it is extremely cute and sweet, with Rudolph in the lead. The story is otherwise fairly well-known (except for the strange addition with the Misfits, which I think has a sequel), but it also manages to entertain.

It's also very nice that this doesn't take too long. 50 minutes is more than enough. It is therefore aimed at younger viewers, but I think fans of stop-motion animation will find enough charm in it. Not exactly a personal favorite, but for once I liked it.

2.5*
