Yes.

I had seen the trailer for 50/50 a few years ago and it seemed a bit bland to me. Then I saw it later with very high reviews and with reasonable expectations I turned on the film. Just give it a chance. And to my surprise, he was very good too.

The balance in this tragicomedy is very good, you soon start to sympathize with Lewitt despite his quiet character. You've actually had a thump in your stomach from the start. The emotions are also strongly conveyed in some scenes.

I had a hard time with the scene of Lewitt letting go of his mother's hand just before the surgery,
I felt the spark go off.
and you must hate me, I expected the ending to be a bit more pathetic. Mary, could be me.

Good movie.

A stoner comedy with Seth Rogen gets a little grittier when Adam (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) smokes the medicinal weed to ease his cancer pain. Rogen/Gordon-Levitt play well together and their male friendship is infectious. '50/50' has just that raw edge that prevents it from becoming an interchangeable sentimental tearjerker, especially because the people around the cancer patient in question all have their own egocentric agendas. Though his girlfriend Rachael (Bryce Dallas Howard) has to go through a lot of dust if she can't play the part of the perfect nurse. Things get a bit unbelievable when Adam's cancer therapist, Katie (Anna Kendrick), does take on a positive female role in his life. These are the predictable and sexist clichés about good and bad women that keep creeping in in these kind of accessible audience films.
