A group of seven students spends a weekend in a cottage on a lake to have a little vacation. When the friends are attacked by bloodthirsty sharks, they will have to do everything they can to avoid falling prey to them.

Entertaining.
But of course not a high-quality title and certainly not a title that represents the genre. Fortunately, the film never seems to go for that, but every now and then Ellis seems to want something more. Let that also be 1 of the lesser points of Shark Night.
This film is mainly for entertainment and succeeds reasonably well. The good thing is that this is not a SyFy-like film and the film is therefore not packed with bad and intentional CGI effects. There was clearly a little more pocket money in this production, although the CGI still doesn't look great. However, it was easy to forgive for entertainment.
The acting is otherwise not great and Paxton in particular slips in this film. Of all the crew members, it is Paxton who has to introduce the celebrity, but in this case does not live up to this status. The best part actually came from Leonard, but he gets a very limited part, so that actually says more about the rest than Leonard.
Shark Night offers enough progress and events to keep things entertaining, but indeed chooses a tedious path too often. The teenagers regularly make irritating decisions that do not benefit the film. It makes little difference for entertainment, but as an experience it is a bit too dull, but otherwise this film is not meant to be realistic, so the film can still be forgiven somewhere.
However, it is mainly that the film eventually adds a ridiculous side plot that distracts from the film itself. That clumsy thing with breeding super fish really doesn't belong here. The film isn't exciting anywhere and you certainly don't have to watch this film for heavy gore. Fortunately, it looks very nice and looks nice. Another 2.5* for that, certainly not 1 of the worst in its subgenre, but not great either.

The blood-red intro with sharks is the best of the movie...because what follows is a laugh of very clumsy characters, no tension and also not so bad and wrong that it becomes fun again, no just shit and skip is the only advice I can give can give.

It looks like a slasher movie with the group of young people at a lake. A few sharks are added, along with an explanation of how they got into a lake. There isn't much tension to the sharks, it leans closer to a movie like Sharknado, but there it is so over the top that it has some fun again. It's not annoying, but it's not more than an average horror that you forgot an hour later.
