"Tell yourself it's just a game."

Since her parents died in an accident, Iris takes care of her brother Raleigh, who has leukemia. As his health deteriorates and bills mount, unemployed Iris's despair increases. When a doctor introduces her to the rich and powerful Shepard Lambrick, who wants to help Iris when she participates in a game he organized, she decides to accept the offer. If she wins, his foundation will find a donor for her brother and pay for the rest of the treatments. Iris agrees, not knowing what will be asked of her.

Amusing low budget horror where different characters are psychologically played off against each other for the main prize and in the meantime more and more candidates are eliminated. Concept is quite well developed and you empathize with the main character. It's a shame what they have cobbled together with a simple setting and a few mediocre actors. The ending was a bit predictable, but that certainly doesn't spoil the fun.

Sadistic games presented byrr.. Jeffrey Combs. And he is enjoying himself immensely as a game leader. There's humor there. You don't read that much here and the film doesn't make a point of it, but it is there. Shep has his candidates undergo the most terrible trials and make choices, while he is quietly nibbling on something or slurping a fresh coffee in a distinguished way. The butler who worked at MI5. Or the doctor with a conscience. You expect something from that, but he is simply shot. funny. With a pitch black edge, but fun nonetheless.

Less is the characterization of some of those present. The son, for example. The film lacks the tone to get away with such a figure. Sasha Gray is also a bit too busy to put down a cold bitch, the order of victims could have been chosen better and if you try your best you can probably come up with dirtier games than this one. But still, it's mean and as a viewer you start to wonder what you would choose. More than enough for a nice 90 minutes of horror with some oh shit moments. The ending is a bit too telephonic and not really necessary, but that shouldn't spoil the fun. Jeffrey Combs!

This was another surprising movie. An exciting film that largely took place in one location. This was certainly not disturbing, because there was plenty to do. The cast did a good job and the ending was bad. Worth seeing.
