'' We can all be monsters. ''

At first. Lindsey Shaw is fun. I did indeed wonder where I knew her from, but indeed from Ned's Survival Guide and from - how can I forget - Pretty Little Liars.

The film itself has little to it. Very clichéd. Nerd falls for a beautiful girl, the beautiful girl has a crappy boyfriend and guess what... You already feel it coming, right?

There was enough going on there. The pace was fast, there was quite a bit of tension at times, but still... a strange feeling. As if you're watching a typical teenage movie a la Twilight. Something that scared girls aged 14-15 watch together during a slumber party and then can't sleep for a week. I found it on the soft side in all areas. The dialogues, the action... the special effects, well, they were nothing to cheer about anyway.

But have I been bored? No, I can't say that. This is great for a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Half added after revision, especially because this production by director Joe Nimziki is significantly better than Clive Turner's mess. The main mistake is that Reborn makes a kind of love story out of the original legend and it barely manages to stick. Landon Liboiron also plays a colorless main character who walks around with a single facial expression throughout the film. The bubbling love between him and Lindsay Shaw (who acts significantly better) therefore has no chemistry, but fortunately that is quickly forgotten once the more active second half begins. Despite the outdated effects, Nimziki delivers an action-filled finale that is very entertaining. It's not really great (the directing is simply too old-fashioned for that and the practical effects no longer last), but it is certainly not the worst that the series has produced.

Second film adaptation of 'The Howling II' (after the equally disastrous 1985 version) capitalizes on renewed interest in the werewolf theme by the Twilight series. Unfortunately, this adaptation is rather literal and the link between budding sexuality (the main character is an 18-year-old virgin) and werewolfhood is very obvious. A lack of originality, acting talent and acceptable make-up or special effects contribute to a deplorable end result. To ...
