Silent Witness plot
Nora Selmer tries to scam innocent men with her charms, but her plans fall through the cracks. It eventually results in the murder of Nora, of which the son of a lawyer is accused. This lawyer does everything in his power to prove his son's innocence and find out who the real killer is.

Starts as a melodrama with a son who murders his mistress and a father who magnanimously accepts the blame in the hope that he will be acquitted, but the strong final act has a few nice twists and turns in store, so that this fairly early talkie remains quite enjoyable despite its age. Funny supporting roles by Herbert Mundin as a precise taxi driver and Billy Bevan as the title character; although this is otherwise a fairly serious film, the humor and the pace seem to point to the further career of co-director Marcel Varnel, who a few years later would direct the most successful comedies of Will Hay, George Formby and the Crazy Gang in England.
