"How do you find love when you don’t know where it is?"
Martin and Mariana live and live in Buenos Aires. In a way, they are even neighbors, because from their apartments they can see the other's flat. Sometimes they pass each other, but they are never aware of the other. Both are searching in life. They visit the same video store, but are separated by a rack of movies. They are even close to each other in the cinema, but it is too dark to recognize each other. It is the city that brings Martin and Mariana together, but also keeps them separate.

Fine film with a quirky character. It reminded me a bit of Amélie.
Both main characters are pleasant to watch and through their voice-overs you get to know and even understand and appreciate their character traits. It makes them human and identifiable.
Also nice were the references to various well-known cultural things, of which Woody Allen's "Manhattan" and "Where's Wally?" stand out to me the most.
The eventual romance between the two main characters was a bit thin, and I actually thought the scene where they were chatting - and the power went out - would lead to their meeting. The fact that she finally found 'her' Wally from her window was a nice symbolic ending in itself, but it made the chat scene a bit redundant.

I did have a thing for those two opening scenes where the two protagonists were introduced. Both with a voice-over, but visually strong and flashy, and also fascinating in terms of content with a touch of humour. Also philosophical about how people live tightly packed in boxes, each in itself, hardly aware of the environment or the other. Contacts are therefore made via the virtual route. Ironic, but of the times.
Both characters remain fascinating and it is waiting for their meeting. The last one is even saved all the way to the end, so you experience the "love at first sight", but not what follows. That does not mean that the film is not interesting for the rest. Flings and casual flirtations are reviewed and you get to know both a little better. The dog, the claustrophobia, the depression and the failed career. To bring a touch of visual humor here and there with the renovation of both apartments. That 'Where is Wally' is also a nice addition that brings panache, playfulness and lightness to the story. Please take a look in advance!
