Le Hussard sur le Toit plot
The film is set in 1832. Napoleon is off the stage and there is a power vacuum in France, which is also ravaged by terrible cholera epidemics. This is the setting of an impossible love story between an Italian adventurer (Martinez) and a married French noblewoman (Binoche).
