Scream of the Banshee plot
"She hasn't been out for a thousand years."
When a college professor discovers and opens a strange ornate box in a college basement, she and her students hear a startling scream from a bloodthirsty ghost. Everything it hears starts screaming and intimidating insidiously. The Irish folkloric saying that anyone who hears the cry of the "Banshee" will soon die will no longer be doubted by anyone if people actually die.

Just watched it on Film 1, but I shouldn't have. What a pathetic mess this was, and the high B-movie factor drips from every detail (especially the special effects). It is impressive that Lauren Holly and Lance Henriksen even let themselves be roped into this film, but that probably has something to do with the fact that the film world isn't really waiting for them anymore. Especially after seeing this movie
The story itself was quite nice, but the execution was terrible, meaning the film barely manages to captivate, let alone become exciting or scary at any point.

I gave this one a try on a whim. I saw it was a SyFy production, so my expectations weren't that high. In the end, it wasn't too bad. It's actually quite a nice story. The monster itself could have been better, but luckily there's still plenty of blood.
The cast wasn't wow, but you shouldn't expect that from this type of film.

Director Steven C. Miller delivers pulp with Scream of the Banshee, but a form of pulp that is quite entertaining. Especially considering the bad effects are sufficiently interspersed with actual attempts to showcase a love for practical violence. Although the costumes are very mediocre, this film features a number of infectious and atmospheric moments as a result. The straightforward story provides the necessary entertainment regardless, and the acting is generally passable, but it is primarily the large dose of nonsensical material that makes it all complete. Unfortunately, this comes with a significant lack of logic and a rather dumb finale in which the writers seem to have lost the plot.
