The Day (2011)

Atmosphere is good, characters unfortunately little developed. The film therefore feels like an empty shell, with a strange part of the film in the dark in which there is a lot of action. You don't see much of it this way. Furthermore, a nice desolate atmosphere (partly thanks to the low color filter), there could have been so much more. Failed crossover between The Road (2009) and The Walking Dead series...

Solid film that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world and in which a small group of people try to stay alive. Film starts completely to the point, since you are in the middle of the survival journey and the group is walking around with all kinds of weapons. The disadvantage is that the group soon arrives at an abandoned house, where almost the entire film takes place. The surprises in the house and the subsequent storming are an interesting plus and this fact makes for some pretty brutal action scenes. The film is exciting at the same time and manages to create solid characters with the interpretation of the cast. The accompanying atmosphere is strong and the gray color filter also gives that extra bit of atmosphere.

Mediocre work about an apocalyptic world in which five young people have to entrench themselves in a country house against malicious intruders. Reasonable play by the cast and quite exciting here and there, but the constantly gray color scheme and the gaudy CGI effects do not exactly provide visual spectacle. A little more explanation wouldn't have hurt either. Fortunately, the film does have an intense climax and the last few scenes have a few (un)pleasant surprises in store for the viewer.
