It's been a long time since I've been so annoyed by a movie. A flashy and pretentious low-budget turd with the worst script ever shoved down my throat.

Tip: skip this one and watch Stake Land.

A particularly melancholic horror film whose story strongly resembles I Am Legend, but with zombies. What's commendable about this film is that the creators tried to bring something new to this rather tired genre, and they certainly deserve credit for that.

The characters are well-developed, the acting is excellent, and the atmosphere is consistently good. Add to that a few creative angles, plenty of beautiful visuals, good writing, and especially some lovely music, and you have a great low-budget horror film.

My only criticism is that I didn't find the villains as convincing as the rest.

For the first time in a while, this is a horror film that brings something new and deserves a lot of praise.

Very underrated film on moviemeter.

Good.

A bit of a difficult film to judge.

On the one hand, I think it's visually stunning at times, the acting is quite good, the zombies are well-made, and the film successfully creates a somber, apocalyptic atmosphere. The grimness of it sometimes reminded me a bit of The Road.

I also think the soundtrack is top-notch. Compared to the many zombie movies on the market, this film is also much more original in its approach.

On the other hand, the story is a bit too slow-moving, sometimes threatening to become tedious. I also simply didn't find the story compelling or powerful enough to keep me captivated. It left me too unmoved to warrant a high rating.

Those looking for a pure zombie slasher might want to skip this one. The film emphasizes drama more than horror, though the zombies being slaughtered look pretty good.

So this is supposedly a low-budget production, but honestly, I couldn't find much low-budget in it. In that respect, they really maximized it, and the creators deserve a huge compliment. I'm incredibly curious to see what they'll conjure up when they finally get a big wad of cash.

I'll give it a 3.0*. I do get the impression that this film is being dismissed a bit too easily, both here and on IMDB.
