It wouldn't work here and perhaps not in Prague either, but it is a wonderful comedy that is a lot of fun to be had because of the many witticisms and when the film does threaten to become repetitive, there are the hilarious scenes where the entire Prague army is hot on the heels of our hero and he manages to escape in an ingenious way, what's more, he makes a golden deal of it.
In the meantime, we have also found out what is going on when the bars in front of the entrance to the bookshop come crashing down...
The music, or song, that plays several times in the film is both sad and mischievous and it sounded familiar to me.
It seems that the director mainly made comedies. If they are all as good as this one, I would like to try one more. Also know that in between the film there are quite a few small humorous snipes at everything and anything. Very pleasant entertainment.

Yes, the song is a bit dull but catchy. Severní vítr by Jaroslav Uhlíř. After the second time I was already singing the chorus loudly. Guitar, harmonica and a campfire are still missing. But it is also 30 degrees outside and maybe I am watching this film in the wrong season. The north wind is not so cruel in the summer.

Comedy is definitely not my genre but I was still happy with this. The decor of Karlovy Vary is very beautiful and the song is played twice at the end.
