"There is no escaping the past."

Allen Meneric (Nick Stahl), a decent but troublesome young man, is locked up in a psychiatric clinic for a brutal revenge murder. There he must learn to deal with the most deranged and dangerous criminals. As part of a socialization program, he is transferred to a light-security ward where he meets the manic-depressive Mia (Olivia Wilde). Haunted forever by his past, Allen seeks redemption when unexpected events force him to protect Mia from the violence and chaos at the institution.
