Shahada plot
The film is about three young Muslims living in Berlin. Certain events begin to shake their faith and force them to change their lives and ask themselves who they are, who they love and what they believe in. The young Turkish Maryam grew up in Berlin; she is completely westernized and has turned away from Islam, much to her father's chagrin. Nigerian Samir struggles with his feelings for his German friend and workmate Daniel. And Turkish policeman Ismael comes face to face again with Leyla, the woman he nearly mortally wounded three years earlier with his weapon. This encounter makes him completely upset. The paths of the three main characters intersect in the mosque of Vedat, the father of Maryam, a progressive and open-minded imam.
