Gripping film about a family drama caused by excessive alcohol consumption and the traumas this has caused on the children.
Some gruesome scenes and also moving.
Actually, the father was the culprit and the mother was just incapable of protecting the children.
Great acts, especially from Noomi Rapace.

Strong portrait of a dysfunctional family where alcohol addiction is at the root of it. We see the family through the eyes of little Leena, who takes care of her little brother for the sake of her addicted parents. Fortunately, she occasionally has her flight in swimming where she does anything but bad.

The film is made up of two parts where we see Leena as a child and as an adult with her own family. The constant jumps in time didn't bother me. The installation was fine. That's also because both storylines are interesting enough and they intertwine effortlessly.

Great acting, by the way, especially from Noomi Rapace, but also the little Leena. It is also a movie with a certain moral. I can certainly put myself in the place of the old Leena. It is her right to cut ties with her parents, but the blood bond always remains emotionally heavy and indestructible. Strong!

Reviewed sooner than I had thought beforehand, but that wasn't a bad thing at all. I thought it was a good movie then, but I think it's even better now. There is so incredibly beautiful acting in a deeply sad and emotional story. The young girl in particular plays beautifully. Just her look says enough. Then she doesn't have to say anything more. And then there were more very nice elements in the film. For example, when she learns Swedish words. Where she writes off everything that is going on with her. Also reminded me of Mitt liv som hund. Where the boy puts everything he finds bad into perspective to the dog Leika in the Sputnik. Beautiful but also very sad film. It's just a pity that I probably can't remember that title for when I want to see it again in due course.
