The Dilemma seemed like a fun movie. One that will make you laugh out loud more often.

As far as the latter is concerned, I came home from a cold fair. The film is only funny at times. Only had a serious laugh twice. Furthermore, it remained a bit of smiles, but mainly just looking seriously at the screen. I have to say that the movie was part drama, but I can't say that this was of an interesting caliber. More the 'bitch drama' than the kind that comes to you or touches you.

I have nothing to say about the cast, except that I am surprised that a film with such names was disappointing. Kevin James is a very sympathetic guy, and he easily put the best character from the film to his name. Vince Vaughn is one of the most erratic actors I know (sometimes fun, sometimes annoying), but he also did a pretty decent job. Winona Ryder and Jennifer Connelly did what they had to do, but didn't get the opportunity to play to their full potential as far as I'm concerned. Channing Tatum isn't a bad actor, but here I just found him downright annoying. Queen Latifah, on the other hand, provided a nice moment at times. Nice cast, but the script works against them. Sometimes I just noticed that the dialogues and monologues didn't work. That's something I rarely read about while watching a movie. Even if it is a film from this genre.

Not a terrible film per se, just a disappointment. The movie has its moments every now and then and the cast tries their best but it just somehow didn't quite work out. A mediocre script and the many clichés and predictions take the momentum out of it, so that The Dilemma cannot fully blossom. And that while the potential was certainly there.

The main focus of The Dilemma was the strong casting of two very well-known comedy actors Kevin James and Vince Vaughn. The rest was up to director Ron Howard how he would approach this film and also try to portray the genre well.

It's entertaining quickly and there are plenty of highlights, but the main thing that's missing from the film and those are the jokes.

It's probably about the highlights that have to come across as funny. Just like the genre of drama that is described here, just like with most American comedies, there is a (in my opinion) weakness that supports the film in a lesser way. Here too, that genre is disappointing and it is placed more in the background to let the jokes come to the fore.

Irritations can quickly arise with some viewers, actor Vince Vaughn plays a rather striking role in this, although he would not be in a scene, you can hear him. I hope he isn't like that in every movie, otherwise I'll ignore it. Of course I can understand that this is his role to put down such a busy person. Kevin James was a bit more conservative than I was used to in his other films.

All in all, the film looks nice and it is of course also about the entertainment you have with such a film!

I don't know why I started it because Vaughn is in my personal top 3 most annoying actors. And James again proved to have only 1 character in his repertoire.

But halfway through the film, the plot developed more and more, which certainly improved the level. Not enough to give it a pass, but it saved the movie for the most part. *2.5
