"The most deadly mutant virus just went airborne... and escape is not an option."

Jenny, a heroic but inexperienced flight attendant, ensures the safety of the passengers. They are relieved when a number of heavily equipped ambulances, police cars and the CDC arrive, only to find that they are quarantined and imprisoned at the airport. Desperate to escape, Jenny enlists the help of one of the surviving passengers, Kindergarten teacher Henry, to come up with a plan for survival.

Direct sequel to part 1 but then again not a remake of REC 2 at all. Here the theme starts to take on a life of its own. I have to say again that I liked this part better than part 1, which was just a straight copy on the Spanish REC. Here we don't go back to that apartment complex anymore, but this time we find ourselves in an airplane, where a passenger suddenly becomes very ill and that can only mean 1 thing. What follows is just another survival journey within the Quarantine and each and every one becomes the passengers. And yes how it ends.... (the last shot was also wonderfully typical) And in addition to the horror, there is also room for some action here and there.

Other than that, I certainly enjoyed myself with this part. In any case, not an outright copy that is still easy to digest.

3.5*

The first part of this film was a reasonable remake of the first part of [REC], but this part went a bit wrong.

The storyline of the original was thrown overboard and something else was made of it, which is why it has become nothing.

An average zombie movie with a nice scene here and there....that's all.

Follow-ups are usually a bland decoction of the box office successful original, and sadly, this one is no exception. This time, the virus does not show up in an apartment but on a flight from LA, allowing the makers to unleash some typical airplane plots and characters on the viewer. Yet they leave the plane surprisingly quickly and the rest of the story takes place in, yes, an 'airport terminal'. The largely unknown cast plays well in this horror thriller starring Mercedes Mason (Jenny) as the discovery.
