"You can't hide in the dark."
Julia and her twin sister suffer from a horrific disease that slowly causes them to go blind. One day the sister is found dead, but Julia is convinced that something else is going on than the suicide that the police are thinking about. Despite her deteriorating vision, she decides to solve her sister's death.

High level suspense. Confusion trumps; as a viewer you don't know at all what is going on or where it is all going. Especially the idea that a blind woman is placed in dangerous situations offered a lot of interesting possibilities, which are also used in the form of some nerve-wracking moments. Good idea also to hide the caretaker's face ... from Julia's point of view she can only hear a voice too. And that without a doubt results in a fine thriller which (except that it is all a bit far fetched) can hardly be faulted and which I was very satisfied with... Those Spanish thrillers continue to please me.

Great movie again from Spanish soil. A film that is perhaps slightly more predictable than similar films such as Contratiempo and El Cuerpo, but which is told in the same style. So I thought the scriptwriter is the same person. Only this one is directed by Morales, which I hadn't seen yet.
Belen Rueda is doing very well, here and there I caught them looking at someone properly. On the one hand logical of course, staring straight ahead all the time seems very difficult to me, but also quite irritating. It's always scary when someone unknown breaks into your house, let alone that this person is invisible. Plus of course the fact that Julia is blind gives an extra dose of tension to the film.
The soundtrack also adds to the tension. So you can certainly speak of a thriller. Horror perhaps from afar by a hideous scene here and there. The ending is also a bit emotional, but certainly not overdone. I also think that the film felt a bit long-winded, especially in the beginning, but I do think that most of the scenes are justified. So if you like Spanish thrillers and twists, you should check this one out.

This film lasted endlessly in my opinion and that is of course not a positive sign. Truly an arthouse drama, audiovisually all very poor and besides, I just couldn't empathize with the characters. I can hardly call it horror. No, these kinds of films are not exactly for me. I also have little faith in that other film by this director that I have on my PC "El Habitante Incierto". But perhaps it can only be better than this for me very disappointing film.
