Quite a nice film with a nice cast, but the easy and somewhat bland elaboration towards the end makes for an unsatisfactory ending. Stéphane Audran plays a remarkable double role, namely the paralyzed woman Marie and the very peculiar sister of Marie. Lead actor Jean-Claude Brialy as Paul plays a bit flat. Fortunately, there is the presence of Catherine Spaak as Françoise Noblet who brightens up the film a bit. The story is interesting to follow and also well built up to the climax that unfortunately disappoints a bit. That is the moment when the inspector visits Paul and explains everything that probably happened. And what about the death of Marie? 6/10

Brialy, Hossein and Serrault are perfect opponents in this whodunnit or not. The imagery of the commissioner is well placed and the confusion with Brialy, for that time, good. The whole thing is a flashback to the early 70's when life seemed 'simpler', but just like now had the same problems. All in all easy to watch with a surprising ending. Nice Renault 17 TS coupe from 1971 by the way.
