Ved Verdens Ende (2009)

Nice movie, yeah. Kaas always ensures a passing grade, and the rest is just fine too. The action is entertaining, the humor is delightfully bumbling, and there are some nice shots thrown in between; fine. Neat soundtrack as well, a fun synth track during the amazing opening scene. It's delightful, of course, how Kaas shuffles backwards across the roof in his sandals—white socks included, naturally—playing the hero. It's simply packed with comedic moments; that diminishes a bit towards the end, but fortunately, the (indeed self-consciously cliché-ridden) drama just barely manages not to take over. A solid 3.5*. Probably won't be a hit, so just shy of 4*.

An entertaining adventure film, although I wouldn't have minded if it had been a bit more over the top.

The film seems to be a sort of mix of various other adventure films, but it still looks quite fresh. Nikolaj Lie Kaas is one of my favorite actors and gives an excellent performance here. The way he comes across as dry, goofy, and silly is genuinely quite funny at times.

The story itself isn't anything special, and I didn't always find the bad guys to be that strong either. Because they sometimes offered little resistance, it occasionally took away the suspense.

What is good, however, is the fine soundtrack, which is well woven throughout the film and sounds particularly pleasant. Ultimately, everything unfolds as you can and should expect. At times, it is all quite amusing.

A decent film in which a psychologist is sent to Indonesia to examine an arrested man. An action-adventure film clearly inspired by Indiana Jones, among others. There is certainly some humor, but without it becoming a parody. However, the plot failed to hold my attention the entire time. Enough happens and the film isn't too long.
