Reminiscent of Robot Monster in many ways. Only the last one is just ironclad in all its badness, and yet you sense some inspiration and goodwill; this movie is just bad and also soporific...

Advantage: you immediately see how good "the day the earth stood still" actually was (1951)

Lacks the hilarity of Robot Monster, but it's still a mess that's so bad it's fun every now and then. Amateurish acting, dramatic lighting and, of course, a silly little story that isn't worth retelling. The opening credits are wickedly bad: a boisterous, suspenseful score as the camera pans like an assassin into the heart of Cape Canaveral...where nothing can be seen but people in white coats pressing buttons, taking notes with pencils in their writing pad and scientifically staring into space. The film is full of these kinds of completely meaningless shots and even then 67 minutes seems like an eternity. A classic in the SF horror genre... for all the wrong reasons!
