Bad Teacher plot

"She doesn't give an F."

Some teachers just do something. Elizabeth (Cameron Diaz), for example. She is ruthless, maladjusted and swears. She drinks, gets high regularly, and wants nothing more than to hook up with a rich man so she can quit her shit job. When she's dumped by her fiancé, she does everything she can to win over a rich, handsome replacement (Justin Timberlake). Elizabeth goes head-to-head with her over-enthusiastic colleague Amy (Lucy Punch) and resists the advances of a sarcastic, indecent gym teacher (Jason Segel).

Not as bad as some reviews claim, it's nothing surprising under the sun, but what do you expect with a title and a plot like this? Clichés are not often avoided but Cameron Diaz does a pretty good job and the soundtrack is also enjoyable!

3*

Yes nice. Diaz does a nice job as a totally disinterested teacher who is only busy raking in money for the breast augmentation to lure rich men. Fortunately, the film is not very moralistic. At a certain point she realizes that there is much more than her goal, that less rich men are also worth it, and that it is good to help the students with their problems, but luckily there is no cliché crisis here in advance, it happens in a quite natural way. And while Punch's character is actually good character, it's also refreshing to see her being taken away by the police.

What is a bit less about this film are the supporting roles of actors I know from sitcoms like Marshall from How I Met Your Mother, Phyllis from The Office and Cameron from [ i]Modern Family[/i]. Except for the latter, which also has the smallest role, I find these roles very similar in character to the characters they play in the aforementioned sitcoms and that always detracts from the experience. 2.5*.

Elizabeth Halsey [Cameron Diaz] is the type of teacher who kills time showing films like Stand and Deliver and Dangerous Minds and outside the classroom targeting handsome, rich men. After Mark [Nat Faxon] dumps her, she starts at a high school headed by Wally Snur [John Michael Higgins] where she thinks she has found her new 'ideal man' in the also new colleague Scott [Justin Timberlake]. But she faces competition from colleague Amy [Lucy Punch], who represents everything Elizabeth detests. School comedy relies heavily on caricatures but never takes itself seriously and will therefore make even the most inveterate teacher chuckle here and there. Do not expect deep humor or sharp social-critical satire, but pleasant empty-headed entertainment
