A forgotten American slasher, from the best time for this kind of movies... the 1980s. That must be good, right?

Not really! For a slasher, the murders are unoriginal and almost all offscreen. The pace is slow and the pay-off laughable. Well, laughable? You are more likely to scratch your head for a moment, because the film suddenly ends and you have no idea what happened. Normally I can live with that, but it didn't make sense here.

The atmosphere is well found, the town where they hide is perfectly chosen. The actors do their best, but they are not convincing. The music is great fun and it's good to see Woody Strode hop by (on his horse).

2*

Usually I find 80s slashers entertaining because of funny gore effects or cheesy characters, but if a film contains neither of those, unfortunately not much remains. The film starts quite seriously and they immediately try to create some tension between the characters. Something that unfortunately fails due to some terrible acting. Furthermore, the soundtrack is a combination of Halloween ripoff and almost funky bass guitar and keyboard playing. Yes, this is again very bad. The murders all happen off screen and the most exciting thing we see as a viewer is a bloodied butcher knife. Finally, the film also has a very unsatisfying ending. For those who don't have a region-free player: this movie can also be found on youtube if you search for Scream 1981. I only recommend saving the effort, because this is very bad.

Outrageously bad. It seems like this was made without a screenplay and they improvised in the worst possible way. It's a complete mess. They just thought to make a story about a psycho killer in an abandoned village where a group of tourists is stranded. But it's not that simple because it really doesn't make any sense. Fluffy dialogues and poor acting (who can blame them in this thing). Soporific state and I had the impression that it was equally soporific for the actors themselves. Jommeke is more exciting than this. Clearly no budget. But that doesn't have to be an excuse. Others did succeed in making a good film without a significant budget. No character development, nope. Bad music. Bad directing.
