Um, what? That's about the best description of this movie. Shockingly bad acting, ridiculous editing and a script that makes no sense with ridiculous dialogue. Some brilliantly funny scenes. The catfight halfway through the film (or towards the end, time is a relative concept when watching this film) is especially brilliant.

Still only a 0.5* because it is all very slow. Other so-bad-it's-funny films do that better.

A worthy two thousandth vote .

Manos: The Hands of Fate resembles a theatrically bad play. Bad is usually meant as a dramatic piece of crap, but I certainly didn't have that with this film. This movie is pretty bad. Everything is indeed very weird and sometimes it is simply absurd and therefore comical. But this was still a nice video. The part with the women who start fighting with each other is really the biggest low point. But other than that, there was still something going on with that couple. This isn't the big drama either. Of course it is indeed laughable on many fronts, but the film had something special and, in my opinion, fun. The ending was quite surprising and good. Nice bad 60s cult. You have to love it, which a lot of people from MM and IMDB don't like. In any case, I give it 3.0.

From a qualitative perspective, Manos: The Hands of Fate is of course a giant turd, but definitely a participant in the so-bad-it's-funny territory. The main entertainment you can get from this is, to some extent, simply schadenfreude. Combined with a nice short playing time, it is all quite doable. It could be possible that the actors/actresses don't even act very badly, since it is director Harold P. Warren himself who mainly makes an absolute mess of it. The editing, cinematography and camera work are substandard and certainly do not deserve any compliments, but I assume that every film lover can see that immediately. How the characters interact with each other is hilarious, which is often too ridiculous for words (and therefore funny). The entire production feels completely incompetent and that is ultimately the appeal of the film, but it will not attract many regular fans.
