During a custody case for a young heir, the father is found dead after a visit from his ex-wife. Detective Myrna "Jinx" Winslow, whose agency was hired by the murdered man to find incriminating evidence against his ex-wife, believes in the woman's innocence and decides to help her. Police detective Jim Rickey, Jinx's fiancée, is in charge of the case, but is constantly behind the times.
