Rapt plot

"Paying his ransom won't bury his secrets."

Stanislas Graff, a powerful businessman is kidnapped one morning outside his home by a gang of mobsters. This is the beginning of an agony that will last for weeks. Despite the inhumane treatment and humiliation, Graff can hold his own and his captors fail to get a hold of him. He accepts everything without protest or wailing, and he responds to barbarity with dignity. Cut off from the outside world, Graff doesn't understand that in the end no one wants to pay the full ransom in exchange for his release. The world he lived in gradually collapses as certain aspects of his personality come to light. His secret life is revealed by the investigation led by the police and the press. Everyone discovers a man who doesn't match the image they had of him at all.
