Iron Eagle II plot
Chappy Sinclair is called up to lead a mixed squad of Russians and Americans in an attack on a target in the Middle East. Despite the cultural differences, the mission doesn't seem that difficult at first, but the mission is jeopardized when Chappy discovers that someone in the Pentagon is trying to sabotage the mission.

Weak sequel to the moderately successful action movie, which was pretty good.
This one is weak and boring. Gossett Jr is pretty cool but the rest of the cast is bad, and the story was very thin and the movie builds up weakly. 1.5.

I thought the first part was awfully bad and this sequel hasn't improved on that. The story is once again too ridiculous to be and the execution even worse (quite clever to pull that off).
Because the first part did quite well in the video stores, a sequel has been made. Of the cast from the first part, only Louis Gossett Jr. still remaining and he is also the only one who still plays reasonably. The rest just play really bad.
For me, the "Iron Eagle" movies end up on the "shit list" by default and so do this one. What a mess.

Because Iron Eagle hero Doug Masters [Jason Gedrick] was shot down by a Russian squadron - an incident the US government is trying to keep a secret - his 'wing man' Captain Matt Cooper [Mark Humphrey] isn't eager to team up. to work with Russian colleagues in preparation for a mission in the Middle East. Especially since the responsible pilot [Colm Feore[ is one of them! It's up to veteran General Charles "Chappy" Sinclair [Louis Gossett Jr] to get things right.
Even more of a clone of Top Gun (1986) than its predecessor. Humphrey's resemblance to Tom Cruise (especially when he puts on those sunglasses) is surpassed only by his lack of acting talent. Director Sidney J. Furie once again manages to put together some nice flying scenes, but the skirmishes on the ground are among the weakest I've ever witnessed. More of the same, but not even as good as his already slightly uplifting voorganger.
