High Tech Soul: The Creation of Techno Music plot
High Tech Soul exposes the roots of techno along with the cultural history of the city of Detroit, where the music style began. From the racial riot in 1967 to "underground rave parties" in the late 1980s. Detroit's economic downturn didn't stop residents from developing a new style of music and turning international attention to its developers and their hometowns. The documentary mainly focuses on the triumvirate; Juan Atkins, Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson, who are considered by many to be the first in the genre. But artists like Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills, Carl Craig and others also explain why techno couldn't have come from anywhere else than Detroit.
