Toxic Skies plot
The inhabitants of the American town of Spokane are struck by a mysterious virus. To prevent further spread of the epidemic, Spokane is hermetically sealed off from the rest of the country. Virologist Tess Martin (Anne Heche) suspects that the plague has broken out in Spokane, but in a much more aggressive form than she's ever heard of. She doesn't know where the outbreak came from, only that she must do everything she can to keep it under control. Then she meets an investigative journalist who insists that the cause must be sought in the harmful substances emitted by airplanes. At first, Tess laughs off his theories, but she decides to start her own investigation anyway. When she then encounters enormous opposition from the government and the kerosene producers, she begins to suspect that the journalist might be right...
