Life during Wartime plot
Joy (Shirley Henderson) runs away from her husband Allen and seeks comfort and guidance from her mother and sisters. Her ex Andy has passed away, but even now he makes frantic efforts to win Joy's heart. Her sister Trish (Allison Janney) meets Harvey (Michael Lerner), a lonely and divorced man on the brink of retirement, and she hopes a new man in the house will bring stability to her vulnerable family. Her sister Helen feels a victim of both her family and her Hollywood success. Their mother Mona (Renee Taylor) is deeply disappointed in men.
