"From the Ashes a Hero will Rise."

A volcanic disaster is imminent today. A researcher tells her colleague the story of two lovers in Pompeii and the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. The slave Darius is sold as a gladiator to Alpio, where he falls in love with his favorite slave girl Helen. At the same time, the first unnamed slave girl Maria is sold to the consul Caius as a dancer and he falls in love with her. However, he does not know that she is a Christian princess. However, no one suspects that they are on the eve of a major disaster and the decadent people refuse to leave because of prophecies.

The eruption of Vesuvius combined with events in Roman times forms the core of the story, but actually the love affairs and faith are the guiding principles of the film. The film opens with the present and ends with it, but it does not add any value to the film at all. The story only starts to get interesting when we are flashed back to Roman times. Victor Alfieri plays the gladiator who falls in love with the beautiful slave Elena (Bettina Zimmermann). But it is mainly Maria (Linda Batista), an exotic princess as a slave, who knows how to stand out with her sensual dances and looks. Both ladies are also seen naked for a while. Lavinia (Vanessa Gravina) plays the sister of Caio (Luca Ward) who rules the empire.

She plays a bitch who has an eye on the gladiator and at the same time has something with Galeno (Clayton Norcross). She is also seen naked for a while. Tony Musante plays Alpio, an interesting character who does have good intentions for his slaves, but ultimately finds his wealth the most important. Galeno and Caio play their roles a bit exaggerated in terms of posture and facial expressions. 6/10
