There were nice bits here and there, but overall I found it very boring.

Nice film about a farming family that gets into debt due to flooding on their land. Entertaining throughout, it looks good and the cast does a fine job. It could certainly have been handled more subtly here and there and the main character is sometimes a bit unbelievable (too stubborn).

Farmer's drama about a farming family that lives on a river, which floods during heavy rains, forcing them to hastily build dikes with scarce resources. Their survival is threatened. This is reminiscent of the floods of last weeks in my own region of West Flanders, where farmers were confronted with the same problems. However, this is about more than that; Capitalist projects, financial setbacks and emotional impact are also discussed. Gibson is out of place here and he fails to give his character any humanity. He may have been too young and inexperienced for such a role, but on the other hand, he has never been a high-level actor. Unfortunately, he makes the film feel distant. It's not entirely bad, but I can't call it good either.2.5-3*
