"In an age of darkness one man will face the ultimate battle against evil."
Medieval England is ravaged by the plague. Bodies are scattered by the hundreds and the country is plunged into chaos. The church is losing its grip on the population, in whom fear prevails. However, there is one village that seems to be spared the disease for the time being. It is far away, surrounded by swamp. It is whispered that the village is led by a sorceress. This Langiva could bring the dead back to life. The dreaded knight Ulrich is ordered by the church to investigate these rumours.

Movie with nice atmosphere. And a good story where knowledge of some history and the history of Christianity in particular will help to understand the film.
And burning down compatriots is very Dutch. Anything that protrudes above ground level in any way must be swept down. Carice is one of the top actresses of Dutch soil. You can love her or not. But don't whine about "not being able to act". Try to give another success.

I was interested in the theme of disease "the plague" (think of the book by Albert Camus: The Plague, which I think is beautiful) and those horrible Middle Ages about 600 years ago.
Historical horror, on balance actually a terrible movie but don't regret watching it.

I tried to watch this movie before but thought it was too bad. Now it worked, but I'm still not convinced. It has its moments, but somehow it seems unfinished. Like it's based on a short story.
The acting was good, but I was annoyed by the camera work. Sometimes too jerky, but mostly clichés with slow motion and people walking in focus. No, it didn't appeal to me at all.
