The film adaptation of the life of Bruce Lee, the hugely popular superstar who passed away at a young age. Many things are recognizable, although his story is not literally correct everywhere and things have turned out differently in the past.

The movie opens nicely when Bruce is training with Yip Man. Getting into trouble due to his fight makes the trip to America. There he eventually meets Linda, after which his son Brandon (sadly also died at a young age on the set of the film The Crow) and daughter Shannon are born. We now also see that Bruce is going to act in The Green Hornet and eventually ends up in the film world. You see The Big Boss passing by and Enter the Dragon and the ultimate influence Bruce Lee has had on the world.

The film offers plenty of action scenes that are well executed by Jason Scott Lee. He may not look too much like Bruce Lee, but his rendition is quite good. Furthermore, the film also has a high drama content when it turns out that everything is far from rosy, but this is also well worked out.

Jason Scott Lee and Lauren Holly make a good duo as Bruce and Linda, and their bond is convincing enough.

Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story is a nice combination of action and drama, which can be called a nice tribute as far as I'm concerned.

Good film about the life of Bruce Lee, originally the role was offered to his son Brandon who turned down the role and then played in The Crow where he was eventually shot dead during the filming...:( Linda Lee was very close to the production involved as well as Jerry Poteet (former jeet kun do student of Bruce Lee) who also starred in it himself, so I'm assuming the story is pretty true to the truth as I don't know much about Bruce Lee myself. Not a big fan of martial art movies myself, just thought the ending was a bit sudden and quickly rushed with a voice over by Lauren Holly (Linda Lee)..

Jason Scott Lee (no relation) plays the part very well (Enter The Dragon is the only Bruce Lee movie I've seen) and Lauren Holly also plays well.

Fun Fact: In The Fast and the Furious we see the movie Dragon playing on a TV in Dominic's (Vin Diesel) house... Both movies are by Rob Cohen

Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story is childhood sentiment to me and because of that, watching the movie I had a lot of oes and aas and occasionally had the same feelings I had when I was young. The film is very American and that ensures that the person Bruce Lee is portrayed very heroically. This can go wrong because it might affect the credibility of the person, but in this film it works well and despite the imperfections (which are clearly shown) you still get a huge sympathy for Bruce Lee. The heroic does of course ensure that certain things are exaggerated and are simply incorrect, such as the recordings of the Big Boss in this film.

Perhaps there might be too much to put it all in one movie, because the ending feels like the movie isn't finished yet.

On the other hand, a movie like this is never finished because you want to see more and end up throwing in another Bruce Lee movie. In that respect, the last shot of the film is very beautiful and emotional. It keeps the legend of Bruce Lee alive and does not lose itself in numbers and other matters surrounding his (much too early) death.

In this way, the beautiful ending is a perfect symbol for the film.

3.5*
