After four years in the army, Captain Vance Colby returns to New Orleans. Once there, he discovers that his father, a professional gambler, has been murdered. The police tell him that his father was caught cheating by Andre Rivage. Vance knows his father was an honest player, but police say there were witnesses that his father played with marked cards. With the help of riverboat owner Captain Barbee and his daughter Melanie, Vance sets out to clear his father's name and avenge his death.
