Zachary Hallock is a widower and moves to a small town with his son Joshua to settle there. He remarries Sarah Jane and has to deal with a gang that includes the Varden brothers. The gang terrorizes the area and a vigilante is formed to fight the bandits together. Hallock refuses to join the vigilante even after the murder of a Pinkerton detective. Hallock even joins the gang. Sarah Jane and Joshua are stunned that Hallock is getting involved with the gang and the Varden brothers.
