The Ruby in the Smoke plot

After the book of the same name by Philip Pullman. Shortly after the death of her father, Captain Lockhart, Sally Lockhart receives a mysterious letter. She soon becomes involved in a quest for a ruby, which also includes Mrs. Holland sits in the back, an older woman, who doesn't shrink from anything.
