A typical Murphy western. It's never captivating, but it's entertaining enough and there's enough action. Brennan is Murphy's father in this film and has a serious role. I think he is so much better than in westerns where he portrays a somewhat funny character.

Jay Silverheels can also be admired as the young leader of the Ute Indians.

A nice western, I even dare to say that this is one of the better Murphy productions. In my opinion, this is due to Brennan's fine acting, in this film he showed that he really had more to offer than a funny side kick. But the role of Betger is also impressive, in my opinion he is the typical example of an actor who was really cast for his appearance, which was of course also perfect for the roles he had to play in many westerns as a smooth and well-spoken villain . He also does well in this film, he actually outshines Murphy. There is also a good supporting role from Silverheels as the son of the Indian chief. The story is well known, unscrupulous and greedy villains try to mine gold on the land of the Utes and I thought it was special that this tribe was once introduced, usually the prairie tribes or Apaches or Comanches in this type of western. The storyline and locations are a bit reminiscent of Broken Arrow, but Murphy is of course no Stewart. There is enough action, both gunfights and the necessary fist fights, and that is where I find the film to have a shortcoming, Murphy has just been in a serious fight with an Indian, has suffered the necessary blows, but some time later the bruises have disappeared and his shirt looks like it came straight out of the wardrobe. Too bad, but otherwise this is a nice western that meets all western criteria, sufficient action, beautiful landscapes, music that is pleasant to the ear, attractive women, who, as so often in a western, do not have to do anything other than be present , although Corday still makes something of her role. It is clear that the film was supported by Brennan and Betger, which lifts the film just above mediocrity.

reasonable western with Murphy trying to keep the peace between the Indians and a bunch of outlaws who try to provoke a war between the whites and the Indians so that they have free rein on the gold in the region.

Murphy is always solid, the nature shots are beautiful and the bad guys are well cast, otherwise the story is entertaining enough to keep people interested.
