"Double dame trouble! Double-barrelled action!"
After World War II ends, pilots and constables Lieutenant Johnny Morrison, Buzz Wanchek and George Copeland return to Hollywood. When Johnny then arrives at the hotel bungalow where his wife Helen lives and is having a party at the time, he catches her with Eddie Harwood, the owner of the nightclub The Blue Dahlia. A tipsy Helen confesses that their son died while drunk driving. After a heated argument, Johnny leaves Helen and on the way gets a lift from the attractive blonde and Eddie Harwood's ex-wife Jessica during a downpour. In a motel, Johnny hears on the radio that Helen has been found murdered in her bungalow and that he is the prime suspect...
